Michael Angove was born in Wales in 1972. He studied textiles at the Winchester School of Art from 1992-95 and at the Royal College of Art from 1998-2000. He is a guest lecturer in printed textiles at RCA. He has worked as a fabric designer for Jean Paul Gaultier, Hugo Boss, Farrow & Ball and the Liberty department store. He is also passionate about drawing and has exhibited his exquisitely detailed trompe-l'oeils at Art London and the 20/21 art fair in London. He joined Quantum in April 2011 and we exhibited his drawings this year at Art Chicago and AAF in New York. We now exhibit Michael's drawings at art fairs in the Far East, America and Canada. In 2014, Michael was commissioned by Jo Malone to redesign their packaging.
Michael was trained in design at the Royal College of Art, where he refined his individualistic approach to art and patterns. He is known for meticulously detailed, high-resolution floral chinoiserie and exquisitely detailed tromp-l'oeil drawings.
His specialized plants are made from real plants, and although each design is a complex filigree of fauna, they all have delicate hidden insects that make his pieces characteristic.
Michael's fine drawings display a rare sense of detail and skills that translate effectively and eloquently to home and fashion products, proving popular with strong worldwide sales.
His clients include Jo Malone London, Liberty, Farrow & Ball and Agent Provocateur.
