Scandinavian design
Avolt is a young Swedish design studio that hits exactly the current zeitgeist. They develop modern and practical objects for our digital everyday life. The designs are practical and also look stylish. In typical Scandinavian style, they focus on a minimalist design. They base their designs on basic bodies and see their objects as a homage to simple shapes. The result is a simple, aesthetically pleasing product.
The Square collection designed by Avolt sets a new standard for future power extensions and chargers in the European market for homes, offices and public spaces. The Square combines clean aesthetics and minimalist form, exclusive materials and is made from 20% recycled plastic.
The product is equipped with three standard sockets, two USB ports and a 1.8 metre flexible matt cable. The built-in magnet combined with an included iron sheet with 3M tape allows users to attach the product to any vertical or horizontal surface, such as a wall or under a table.
"The space was designed from the idea that commodity-based electronics should be aesthetically pleasing, beautiful and at the same time very functional. We noticed that architects always include built-in sockets, but once people start using the space, additional sockets are always needed."
The Square collection won the Red Dot Design Award in 2019 and in the same year it was chosen by the jury as the favourite product of the Swedish Design Awards.
